On October 24, 2025, a solemn "time capsule" laying ceremony was held at the main water intake of the Otuz-Adyr main canal in the Kara-Suu District of the Osh Region. This event officially marked the commencement of full-scale modernization works on the Kurshab-Sai irrigation system.
This project is being implemented under the global "Climate Resilient Water Services Project" (CRWSP). Funding is provided by the International Development Association (IDA) with the support of the World Bank. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bakyt Torobaev, as well as representatives from the World Bank, the Water Resources Service, and relevant specialists.
The modernization of the Kurshab-Sai system is part of a comprehensive strategy to renew the irrigation infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan. A total of 1.788 billion KGS has been allocated for this stage, which will be directed towards the complete reconstruction of 42.4 km of canals. The works will cover seven rural municipalities (ayyl aimaks) and the city of Kara-Suu, significantly improving the supply of irrigation water to over 13,000 hectares of arable land. This will not only increase yields but also make the region's agriculture more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
United Group is actively involved in the implementation of this strategically important project by providing consulting services. The company's activities are focused on providing technical supervision of construction works and expert support during the modernization of the irrigation infrastructure.
United Group's activities within the CRWSP project are aimed at creating an efficient infrastructure that serves the interests of the agricultural sector and contributes to the economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
